Deed: House at northern end of Everglades Island fetches $8.1 million

Posted On: 09-20-2016

The deed lists Hennessy with an address on Leucandra Court in Palm Beach Gardens.

Sellers renovated

With ties to New Vernon, N.J., the Hennessys bought the property as a retirement retreat and then finished a major renovation that was already in progress at the time, according to a Daily News story about the house published in January.

Among the changes, they refinished the marble floors, swapped the dining room with the media room and updated the bathrooms and kitchen. Features include 12-foot ceilings in the main rooms and a downstairs bedroom suite.

The Hennessys also reworked the landscape and hardscape and installed a dock and boat lift to accommodate their 32-foot yacht.

“It’s been a good house for entertaining. We’ve had nice parties at the house and around the pool for 50 guests and more,” Edward Hennessy told the Daily News.

He and his wife bought the house the same year he retired as chairman and CEO of the company then known as Allied-Signal Inc., a global technology, engineering and manufacturing company later acquired and absorbed by Honeywell.

Rhode Island sale

Attorney James P. Redding of Little Compton, R.I., is the registered agent for the company that bought the house and serves as the agent for Rhode Island Novelty, according to Rhode Island business records.

Deja Views LLC sold an eight-bedroom, 5,000-square-foot seaside estate on Ocean Road in Narragansett, R.I., for $2.925 million in July 2015, property records show. Dating to 1890, that estate included two buildings on 1.28 acres, according to information posted on Zillow.com.

It’s unclear whether the buyer will keep the house intact or raze it for replacement, a common occurrence on Everglades Island these days. A new house is being developed on speculation on the lot at 488 Island Drive, immediately north of the house that just sold. And last month, the town approved plans for another spec house to be built two doors to the south at No. 520.
