Deed: Midtown Mediterranean home on Wells Road fetches $6.5 million

Robert V. Kenna has sold his five-bedroom house at 230 Wells Road for $6.5 million to Wells 2124 LLC of Greenwich, Conn., according to the deed filed this week by the Palm Beach County Clerk’s office.

The buyer’s company address, listed on the deed as 79 Harbor Drive, is associated in public records with John C. Sites, a former Bear Stearns executive and a partner at Wexford Capital LP, where he focuses on private- and public-equity investing. Attorney James H. Ryan of North Palm Beach serves as the registered agent for Wells 2124 LLC, a Florida limited liability company, state business records show.

Kenna, an inventor who has patented several prosthetic devices, acquired the Wells Road property in 2001 for $5.16 million. He previously bought oceanfront estates on Beach Road in Hobe Sound and Seminole Beach Road in North Palm Beach.

Both seller and buyer were represented by broker Linda A. Gary of Linda A. Gary Real Estate. She said she could not comment about specifics of the deal or those involved.

“It’s a beautiful home on a great street,” Gary said.

Last month, Sites purchased a Frenchman’s Creek property in North Palm Beach for $1.35 million, according to the property records. In 2005, Sites and his wife, Cindy L. Sites, paid a recorded $3.152 million for 514 Bald Eagle Drive at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Jupiter.

First listed by Gary at $7.6 million, the asking price for the Wells Road house was $6.7 million at the time of the sale, which was recorded Wednesday.

The Mediterranean-style five-bedroom custom home with more than 6,000 square feet of living area was built in 2001 by the Wittmann Building Corp., following the demolition of a one-story house designed in 1953 by architect John Stetson.

Located between North Lake Way and North County Road, the house has a multi-level floor plan with an elevator, a walk-in climatized wine room, a state-of-the-art kitchen, his-and-her master baths, and an air-conditioned three-car garage, according to Gary’s sales listing.

Secured by an electronic entrance gate, the surrounding landscape and gardens were created by Nievera Williams Design. A loggia anchors an entertainment area overlooking the pool and spa.

The estate, measuring nearly a half-acre, has a 2012 assessed value of $5.1 million, property records show.

Sites declined to comment. Kenna could not be reached for comment.
