Rosie O’Donnell drops price of West Palm Beach house, buys $8M NYC condo

Posted On: 07-17-2017

Comedian Rosie O’Donnell is keeping real estate agents busy these days. The author and former talk show host just paid $8 million for a Midtown penthouse in New York City. And her for-sale West Palm Beach house — with its waterfront view of Palm Beach’s North End — recently saw a price reduction to $5.75 million.

Like the famous “winter White House” of her longtime adversary, President Donald Trump, O’Donnell’s property — at 3100 N. Flagler Drive — overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway from the rear. But Trump’s oceanfront Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach stands on the opposite side of the waterway from O’Donnell’s house, which is too far north to get a view of Trump’s famous mansion-turned-private-club.

O’Donnell’s new triplex penthouse, meanwhile, is in Greenwich Village’s 255 East 49th Street building, according to a number of published reports, including one by Variety. The contemporary apartment measures 3,563 square feet with a “spacious, light-filled combination living and dining room finished with wide plank hardwood floorboards imported from Russia, a graphically minimalist honed black granite fireplace, a greenhouse window with open views to the east and a wet bar with glitzy back-lit onyx countertop,” according to Variety.

The listing agents were Charlotte Van Doren and Harrison Rose of Stribling.

O’Donnell’s main residence is in Nyack, N.Y.

O’Donnell has owned her West Palm Beach house — on a half-acre lot with 180 feet on the waterway — for about two years. A trust in her name paid a recorded $4.975 million for it after selling homes on Miami’s Star Island and in Sarasota.

She listed the Flagler Drive house for sale in December with agent Dona Becker of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Florida 1st in Aventura. She dropped the price at the end of May as South Florida’s winter tourist season wound down.

Built in 1957, the house had undergone an extensive renovation before O’Donnell bought it. The house and guest suite have a total of six bedrooms and 7,592 square feet of living space, inside and out, according to property records.

Amenities include two fireplaces, two outdoor loggias, summer kitchen and a three-car garage. The heated pool and whirlpool spa face the waterway. The floorplan features a first-floor master suite and an updated kitchen open to the expansive living area.

Steve Davis of Douglas Elliman’s Palm Beach office was the listing agent when O’Donnell bought the house.
