Washington D.C.-area real estate investors and island homeowners William F.X. Moody and Dana E. Landry have added to their portfolio of properties here.

Their latest acquisition? An updated 1938 Bermuda-style home at 577 S. County Road, which they bought for $5.75 million, according to a deed recorded late last month.

They bought it from Cassandra H. Henderson, who had purchased it in 2004 when she was married to insurance exec Horace H. Irvine III, according to property records. She has homes in Nantucket and Boston, where her charitable work has included service on the boards of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum as well as health-care institutions.

Broker Christian J. Angle of Christian Angle Real Estate had assigned a price of $6.495 million to the house when he listed it in early January. By late March, it was under contract, according to the local multiple listing service.

The house is in the Estate Section opposite the Everglades Golf Course, between Via Marina and Island Road. Designed by society architect John Volk, the property has five bedrooms and 5,348 square feet of living space, inside and out.

Among the amenities are an updated kitchen, exposed beamed ceilings, a cabana bath and a guest apartment, according to Angle’s sales listing.

Henderson oversaw a major renovation 10 years ago, working with interior decorator Jeffrey Haines of Far Hills, N.J. “We rebuilt the workings of the house,” she told the Shiny Sheet last year when the house was listed with another agency. “We redid floors, wiring and plumbing, and restored the old wood in the library. We concentrated on adapting the house for family and entertaining with modern conveniences.

”Over the past several years, Landry and Moody have bought Palm Beach investment properties and renovated vintage homes for their own use; they also own property across the bridges. In addition to owning a homesteaded waterfront residence at 3 Pelican Lane in the Estate Section, they bought Casa Pequeña, a 1922 house at 8 Golfview Road, for a recorded $4.5 million in October 2012. They made improvements and sold it seven months later for $5.6 million, according to property records.

Landry is founding partner and principal broker at Washington Fine Properties, where Moody is an agent. The buyers acted on their own behalf in the transaction on South County Road, Angle said.

Neither the buyers nor Henderson could be reached for comment.
