Analysis: Home sales, prices up in first half of year

As Palm Beach’s housing market continues regaining its mojo this season, the foundation for the recovery was laid — sale by sale — during the first six months of the year, the latest Evans Report sales analysis shows.Across the board, far more single-family properties and condominiums sold at higher prices between Jan. 1 and June 30 than during the same period of 2012, according to the annual analysis prepared by Palm Beach real estate attorney and property owner Leslie Evans.

Townwide, 114 single-family houses, townhomes and vacant lots sold this year compared to 70 last year during the six months covered in the report.The improved single-family numbers were particularly welcome, said Evans, because when he issued a similar report last year, it showed that 2012 sales decreased by 11 properties from the same period in 2011.“I feel very positive,” Evans said. “I think it’s a very good report. Condo sales weren’t quite as strong as home sales, but prices were up overall.
