Thorne and Patricia “Trish” Donnelley have sold their four-bedroom oceanview house at 100 Via Del Lago for a recorded $4.5 million. The 5,540-square-foot house sold last week to a Florida limited liability company named after the property’s address, according to the deed recorded Friday.

The Donnelleys had acquired the Estate Section property in late 2010 for $3.36 million with the intension of expanding and reselling it, they said in a Shiny Sheet article about the house published in April. But that extensive renovation plan was never carried out.

The sale was handled on both sides by Brown Harris Stevens. Agent Elaine M. Edwards had priced the property at $5.35 million. Her colleague, Gregory Weadock, acted for 100 Via Del Lago LLC, which is listed on the deed with an address in care of West Palm Beach attorney Francis X. Lynch.

Weadock declined to identify his clients by name but did say they have family ties to Palm Beach and were attracted by the property’s ocean views and its nearby deeded beach access.

The Donnelleys originally had planned to build a 2,500-square-foot addition to the Mediterranean-style house, which was built in 1982 on a lot at the corner of South Ocean Boulevard. Although the house faces beachfront homes on the east side of the coastal road, its second-floor windows capture views of the ocean.

The new owners are “weighing their options” as to whether they’ll carry out the existing renovation plans, Weadock added.

The Donnelleys had already completed work at the house, including the installation of new air conditioning, irrigation, lighting and pool equipment.

Thorne Donnelley, an entrepreneur who once worked for his family’s printing business, R.R. Donnelley & Sons, more recently founded Liberty Tax Service and also runs Liberty Book Store in downtown West Palm Beach.

The Donnelleys also own a condominium in One Watermark Place, just west of the Flagler Memorial Bridge. Edwards sold them that apartment new in 2003, when she worked for WCI Communities. She also represented them when they bought the house on Via Del Lago from Nancy Mendel, an agent with Sotheby’s International Realty.
