House on North Lake Way fetches $3.5M

Pieter and Nina Taselaar have sold their four-bedroom house at 579 N. Lake Way to Anastasia Coleman for a recorded $3.5 million, according to the deed.

It nearly was a break-even deal for the Taselaars, who paid about $3.68 million for the house in 2005 during island’s escalating real estate boom, property records show. They used it for holidays from their home in New York.

The Taselaars have moved nearer the ocean to a house at 158 Dunbar Road they bought last summer for a recorded $8.5 million. She is a psychologist and he is a founding partner and CEO of Lucerne Capital Management, an equity-investments firm.

Corcoran Group agents Paulette Koch and Dana Koch had listed the four-bedroom house on North Lake Way at just under $4 million. With interior finishes by Kemble Interiors, the two-story, West Indies-style house was built in 2001 with 4,961 square feet of living space, inside and out. The lot measures about a quarter-acre, according to sale recorded in early May.

Broker John O. Pickett III of Barrett Welles Property Group acted on Coleman’s behalf, just as he has done in other deals.

Coleman is the ex-wife of financier Alexander P. Coleman. The couple’s split sparked the sale of their landmarked Estate Section house at 210 Via Del Mar; a trust affiliated with them sold it for $10.3 million in June 2013. A little more than a year later, the same trust sold a vacant lot next door to the house at 204 Via Del Mar for $5.5 million. Acting opposite Pickett in those two sales, respectively, were broker Lawrence Moens of Lawrence A. Moens Associates and Sotheby’s International Realty agent Suzanne Ainslie.

Sotheby’s real estate agent Kim Raich of Sotheby’s, meanwhile, handled both sides of the deal when the Taselaars bought their new home on Dunbar in August from investment executive Jay A. Johnston of Dorado, Puerto Rico. Raich also had marketed the North Lake Way house before Team Koch acquired the listing in January.
