Jimmy and Jane Buffett’s Midtown estate has sold for $18.5 million, according to a deed filed today at the Palm Beach County courthouse.

The buyer is Via Marina LLC, a Delaware company located at 645 Madison Ave., Suite 610, New York.

Reached in London, Cristina Condon, a Sotheby's International Realty associate, said, " A very good price indeed for a great piece of property."

Fite Shavell associate Lynn Warren, who with partner Gary Little sold last year's highest-priced oceanfront, La Bellucia for $24 million, said, "The buyer got a pretty good deal for a unique oceanfront property with more than an acre of land in a convenient in-town location."

The Buffetts paid $4.4 million for the five bedroom-nine bathroom compound on 1.6 acres in 1994. The address is 540 S. Ocean Blvd.

The estate was originally designed in the Mediterranean style by Marion Sims Wyeth but was later remodeled into a British Colonial-style house by Howard Major. In 1969 the Garden Club of Palm Beach showcased the house as part of its annual house and garden tour.

For many years, the estate was the residence of Audrey Emery, the daughter of a Cincinnati industrialist. In 1926, she married the Grand Duke Dmitri Romanov Ilyinsky of Russia, becoming known as Princess Anna Ilyinsky. Their son, Paul Romanoff Ilyinsky, a Palm Beach resident, served as the town's mayor for many years. Following her divorce from the Grand Duke in 1937, Emery later married Prince Dimitri Djordjaze of Monaco.

The place was also once the home to Amory and Annette Haskell, who named it Annetteamo. She was the daughter of Standard Oil exec Henry Morgan Tilford.

The estate features a  tennis court, pool, guest house and ocean frontage.

The property is currently appraised for $23.3 million by the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser’s Office.

Buffett, as Sadeca Realty LLC, a Florida company, still owns another Palm Beach property. In 2002, Sadeca paid $802,000 for 138 Root Trail, a two-unit multifamily property, according to court records.
