Koch house at 140 El Mirasol sells for $6.7M to Rosemead

Angela B. Koch and her husband, Douglas Stockham, have sold 140 El Mirasol for $6.7 million to NSHE Rosemead LLC, an Arizona company based in Phoenix, according to the warranty deed filed May 24.

The property was most recently listed for $7.9 million by Caroline Seymour, an agent with Brown Harris Stevens Palm Beach.

Robin Donnelley, an associate with Fite Shavell & Associates, represented the buyer.

“It’s a beautiful piece of property in a wonderful location and a spectacular house,” Donnelley said. “The buyer plans to do some updating.”

NSHE Rosemead LLC is an affiliate of National Safe Harbor Exchange, a subsidiary of Fidelity National Financial Inc.

The eight-bedroom, nine-bath British West Indies-style house with approximately 9,000 square feet of living area is in the ocean block on a double lot in a subdivision named for the Addison Mizner-designed 40-room mansion built for Ned and Eva Stotesbury.

Following Eva Stotesbury’s death in 1946, the house and the remaining oceanfront acreage were sold, as well as the more than 1,600 furnishings and artifacts, comprising one of the era’s most significant collections of Mizner Industries and Spanish Renaissance artworks. Eventually, the house was demolished and the El Mirasol oceanfront estate became a platted subdivision.

In 2001 Koch bought 140 El Mirasol for $5.3 million. It is currently appraised at $7.5 million, according to the Property Appraiser’s Office records.
