Lakefront house in Estate Section fetches $23.1 million

More than a year after it entered the market, Robert and Janice Diamond’s custom home on the lake at 738 S. County Road has sold for a recorded $23.1 million.

The Mediterranean-style house had never changed hands since it was built for the Diamonds in 1999, property records show.

A revocable trust named after the property’s address bought the house, according to the deed recorded Monday. No further information about the buyer was immediately available.

With 13,341 square feet of living space, inside and out, the house stands on 1.26 acres in the Estate Section, about a third of a mile south of the Everglades Golf Course. The property has about 160 feet of lakefront.

Broker Lawrence Moens of Lawrence A. Moens Associates never reduced the price of $28 million he set when he listed the property for sale in January 2013, according to records in the local multiple listing service.

Agent Cristine Condon of Sotheby’s International Realty acted on behalf of the buyer.

Attorney Maura Ziska is trustee of the trust that bought the house, and her West Palm Beach law firm, Kochman & Ziska, is listed on the deed as its mailing address. Ziska’s firm often represents high-net-worth clients in residential transactions.

Designed by Smith Architectural Group, the house features Italianate architecture, with Roman arches, roundel windows and a barrel-tile roof. A grandly scaled arched loggia extends from the house toward South County Road, separating the expansive brick-paved motor court from the gardens on the north side of the property. There’s also a lakeside pool and a cabana.

The Diamonds have longtime ties to Bedford, N.Y.

An engineer with a specialty in electronics and telecommunications, Robert Diamond built a career that included the chairmanship of Xanboo, a manufacturer of a home-security and energy-management systems; and the co-founding of LED-lighting company Xeleum Lighting. He also retired as chairman of Cidco, a maker of caller-I.D. products and other telecommunications equipment.

Moens, Ziska and the Diamonds could not be reached for comment. Condon declined to comment.
