Lakefront vacant lot changes hands for $6.7M

As they are wont to do, Palm Beachers Donald R. and Irene Dizney have sold another piece of the island.

Their latest deal involved a vacant lakefront lot measuring about a third of an acre at 320 Dunbar Road, which they had on the market for more than two years. Changing hands for $6.745 million just before Christmas, the land is on a cul-de-sac, across the street from the Dizneys’ home at 313 Dunbar Road.

The deed shows that the buyer was another islander — asset manager Peter W. May, who with his wife, Leni, owns a townhouse in Villa Plati on the lake at 310 Atlantic Ave. Peter May also owns a condominium in Lake Towers at 250 Bradley Place, the address listed for him on the deed recorded Dec. 23.

A horse breeder, Don Dizney is the founder and chairman of United Medical Corp. in Windermere. He and his wife owned the vacant lot they just sold through a limited liability company named after its address. They paid $7.24 million for it in 2006 during the real estate boom. That was three years after they bought property immediately north for nearly $4 million and built a house there.

Broker Christian J. Angle of Christian Angle Real Estate had listed the listed the Dunbar lot in October 2012 and most recently had it priced at $7.45 million.

Angle also had a hand in several real estate transactions involving the Dizneys over the past few years, records show. Among the more recent was in August 2013, when the couple sold a vacant oceanfront lot at 516 S. Ocean Blvd. for $8.7 million. Agent Jim McCann of the Corcoran Group acted on behalf of the buyers, Margaret and Christopher Sinclair.

Broker Lawrence Moens of Lawrence A. Moens Associates acted on the buyer’s side of last week’s deal. He also represented the Mays — opposite broker Linda Gary of Linda A. Gary Real Estate — when they bought their Villa Plati townhouse for $5.75 million in 2012.

Peter May co-founded the New York City-based asset-management firm Trian Partners in 2005 with Edward P. Garden and fellow Palm Beacher Nelson Peltz. The firm invests in underperforming companies and makes improvements to them to increase their value for investors, according to its website.
