After two years in Palm Beach’s luxury shopping market, Swiss fashion house Akris is expanding to open a flagship store on Worth Avenue.

The new 2,067-square-foot boutique, under construction in The Esplanade at 150 Worth Ave., is scheduled to open next weekend.

“We are thrilled that Akris decided to build a flagship store on Worth Avenue,” said Worth Avenue Association President Marley Herring, owner of Marley’s Palm Beach Collection. “It is wonderful that they chose Palm Beach for such a major redesign. We are very proud that Worth Avenue remains an exclusive shopping district in the eyes of so many important designers. I feel confident that those visiting Akris’ new location will certainly be delighted with what they see.”

Akris CEO Peter Herink said the luxury women’s brand decided to expand from the 1,000-square-foot store to better showcase its collection. The new store will also features sportswear, Akris accessories and Akris punto, a more sporty sister line.

“We weren’t able to show the breadth of the collection and fully service our clients in our previous location,” he said.

Akris, founded in 1922 in Switzerland, offers women’s wear and signature accessories. Herink describes the designs as “sleek, effortless, versatile, refined and fashionably timeless.”

The new store concept combines modern and classic elements. It features curvilinear maple wood walls in white, and matte marble floors. The fitting rooms have white horsehair covered walls. Leather armchairs and Akris’ signature “Cherner Chair” will come in eggshell white, exclusive to Palm Beach.

Yvonne Jones, director of property management for The Esplanade, said the expanded store brings further awareness that the center is a luxury shopping destination.

“The new store combines two formerly independent spaces to create one flagship location to anchor the shopping center,” she said. “With the success of the previous smaller location, this new larger space will give Palm Beach customers the ultimate luxury shopping experience for chic, refined and fashionable ready to wear.”
