Ocean Boulevard home, cabana sell for $8 million

Herbert “Bert” C. Pohlmann Jr. has sold his renovated six-bedroom oceanfront house at 1290 N. Ocean Blvd. for $8 million to 1290 Investments LLC of Coral Gables, according to the deed recorded Monday by the Palm Beach County Clerk’s office.

Pohlmann is involved in a variety of ventures that have included companies related to the oil industry and ownership of the Tin City shopping district in Naples.

The limited liability corporation is managed by Erika Cedeno, who owns a residence at 500 Brickell Ave., PH- 2, Miami, which was previously listed as the LLC’s office location, according to the Florida Department of State corporate records and the Miami-Dade County office of the Property Appraiser.

Pohlmann told the  Daily News last fall that he had bought a home on Plantation Key in Islamorada and plans to stay on his yacht when he visits Palm Beach.

The property measures a little more than four-tenths of an acre and lies a little less than a mile south of the northern tip of the island. The elevation of the property is high enough so that the one-story home’s eastern windows afford views of the Atlantic across North Ocean Boulevard.

In all, the house and its one-bedroom beachside cabana have 6,416 square feet of living space, inside and out.

The property was co-listed for sale at $8.75 million by agents Sylvia James and Pat McInerney of Fite Shavell & Associates. They had originally listed the house at $9.25 million last September.

Ashley Velez founder and president of P.U.R.E. Investments Inc. of Coral Gables represented the buyer. Velez has represented “artists such as Akon, Busta Rhymes, Ray J and athletes Lebron James, Julius Peppers and Dwyane Wade,” according to her website.

Pohlmann bought the house through a limited liability company for about $3.4 million in March 2004 and transferred ownership to his name later that year. He carried out renovations before Hurricane Wilma slammed into the island in 2005.

“I renovated the house once, then got whacked by the hurricane and did it again,” Pohlmann said in the Daily News article last November.

Among his renovations, he replaced floors, installed new appliances, updated the bathrooms and removed walls to make some rooms larger and improve the home’s traffic flow, he said.

Among the interior features are granite countertops, Haifa-stone floors and an enclosed loggia. The oceanview master bedroom has two full bathrooms and a sitting room. Outside are a 50-foot-long swimming pool with a whirlpool spa and fountain.

The beachside cabana has a patio with a hot tub, a grill area and an outdoor shower.

Pohlmann, who could not be reached for comment, also owns the Prince Conti Hotel in New Orleans, according to property records.
