Polmer Park buyer has Toronto connection

With a new house in Phipps Estates, A. Edward and Margarita Allinson have sold their previous home at 310 Polmer Park for a recorded $4.88 million, according to the price recorded with the deed.

The Toronto-based Peal Trust bought the Palm Beach Regency-style, four-bedroom house, which was built in 1962 with about 5,800 square feet of living space, inside and out. Allison Menkes acted as trustee.

Agent Cristina Condon of Sotheby’s International Realty had listed the North End property in early December for $5.95 million. Broker Christian J. Angle of Christian Angle Real Estate was on the buyer’s side of the deal. Neither one is commenting about the sale, which was recorded March 31 by the Palm Beach County Clerk’s office.

Public records link the Toronto address on the deed to Allison Reisman Menkes, an attorney married to real estate developer Peter Menkes, co-president at Menkes Development Ltd. of Toronto. Wonder if it’s any coincidence that if you combine the first two letters of the couple’s first names, you get the word “Peal” — as in Peal Trust?

The couple — who also have a home in New York City, according to property records — couldn’t be reached for comment. But they have family connections in Palm Beach.

In 2012, a Canadian entity controlled by Alan Menkes, Peter Menkes’ brother, paid a recorded $4.95 million for a landmarked 1927 house at 153 Clarke Ave.; he was represented in the deal by Angle. The same entity, PB Limited Partnership, also owns an apartment in the 400 Building on South Ocean Boulevard.

Like his brothers Peter and Steven, Alan Menkes also is co-president at Menkes Development, one of Toronto’s largest development firms. It was founded 60 years ago by their late father, Murray Menkes.

The Allinsons, meanwhile, are busy settling into their new home. Back in January, Condon represented A. Edward Allinson, a retired banker, when he bought a Mediterranean-style house at 236 Via Las Brisas for a recorded $6.55 million from a trust linked to Norma and Bill Tiefel. Angle acted on behalf of the Tiefels, who, in turn, already owned a house on Via del Lago.
