Renovated house on Peruvian fetches $7.65 million

Posted On: 01-13-2017

Beverlee Miller Raymond and her husband, John J. Raymond Jr., have sold for $7.65 million their Bermuda-style house in the ocean block of Peruvian Avenue, according to a deed recorded last week.

The sale of 137 Peruvian Ave. marked the highest-dollar transaction since Nov. 1 of a property listed in the Palm Beach Board of Realtors Multiple Listing Service.

The house has five bedrooms and 8,442 square feet of living space, inside and out. Built as a custom home 20 years ago, the property had been extensively renovated before the Raymonds bought it in 2013 for $4.55 million.

Palm Beacher Melissa Sullivan bought the house, which stands about a mile-and-a-half south of a townhouse she has owned for a decade, courthouse records show.

Agent Myra Morrison of Brown Harris Stevens acted on behalf of Sullivan in the deal opposite listing agent Stephen R. Simpson of The Fite Group. Simpson had the house priced at $7.899 million, down from $8.95 million when it entered the market last February.

Among its features, the interior has marble floors, a two-story foyer with a curved staircase, a commercial-grade elevator, a great room and a kitchen with twin islands.

“The kitchen is wonderful for entertaining,” Beverlee Miller Raymond told the Shiny Sheet for an article last April.

She also said the couple had enjoyed the library.

“The library has a wet bar with a refrigerator, and it even has a library ladder on wheels. Believe me, we use the ladder. My husband and I are both big readers,” she said.

Property records show Sullivan paid just under $3 million for her townhouse at 205 Atlantic Ave. in December 2007. Plans are in the works to list that property for sale through Morrison.

The past two months have been relatively quiet for higher-dollar deals in Palm Beach. Since Nov. 1, only one property has sold for more than the house on Peruvian Avenue and it was not listed in MLS. That vacant oceanfront lot — carved from property sold in 2008 by President-Elect Donald Trump — at 515 N. County Road changed hands for $34.34 million. The sale recorded Nov. 18 was handled on both sides by Lawrence A. Moens Associates.
