Rosie O’Donnell buys house opposite Palm Beach

Comedian and former talk show host Rosie O’Donnell can now look at Palm Beach from her backyard loggia.

Through a trust, the former Miami resident and host of The View has paid a recorded $4.975 million for a renovated 1957 house at 3100 N. Flagler Drive on the Intracoastal Waterway in West Palm Beach.

O’Donnell’s brother, Timothy, acted as trustee of a revocable living trust in her name, according to the deed recorded July 30. The house and an adjacent vacant lot changed hands together in the transaction, the deed shows.

In all, the property measures about a half-acre with 180 feet of waterfront. It lies about a mile and a half north of the Flagler Memorial Bridge.

The house and guesthouse have a total of six bedrooms and 7,592 square feet of living space, inside and out, according to property records.

The house was sold by a Florida limited liability company named 3100 N Flagler LLC, which is controlled by New York City real estate investment firm associated with Scott Solomon and Edward Ackerman, records show.

After the company bought it for about $3 million in March 2014, work crews carried out an extensive update that included a partial reconstruction, said listing agent Steve Davis of Douglas Elliman’s Palm Beach office.

Davis said he doesn’t expect O’Donnell to tear down the house, at least not in the short term.

“I think this client loved the house. It came furnished, and she was comfortable in it,” Davis said. “She could buy anywhere. Money was not an issue.

”A Miami real estate firm represented O’Donnell in the sale, he said.

Davis, who has now sold the house four times, had it priced at just under $4 million. The adjacent lot was not listed for sale, and its value was negotiated as part of the deal.

Davis’ listing, which expired the day after the sale closed last week, mentioned the house’s three-car garage, two fireplaces, heated pool and whirlpool spa, and two loggias, one with a summer kitchen. The house also included a first-floor master suite, double vanities with built-in televisions and a massage room. The listing also offered details of the “chef’s kitchen” with a wine cooler.

After O’Donnell sold her longtime home on Miami’s Star Island in 2013, she reportedly had her eye on singer Olivia Newton-John’s home on Jupiter Island. But that deal never came to fruition. She instead bought and later sold a home in Sarasota, according to published reports.

Davis said the sale points to the value of properties in West Palm Beach as compared to those in other areas, including Palm Beach.

“That property on Palm Beach would be in the $20s,” he said, referring to millions of dollars.

The property has a “total market value” of $2.026 million, according to the most recent valuation assigned by the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser’s office.
